Biological effects of EMF radiation confirmed

A new systematic review, partly funded by the World Health Organization (WHO), has found high certainty of evidence linking cell phone radiofrequency (RF) radiation to cancer in animals, specifically gliomas (brain tumors) and malignant schwannomas (heart tumors) — the same types observed in some human studies. The review analyzed 52 animal studies and also found moderate evidence for other rare tumors.

In response, the International Commission on the Biological Effects of Electromagnetic Fields (ICBE-EMF) is urging governments and the FCC to adopt science-based exposure limits to protect public health. The group warns that current safety standards, based on outdated assumptions that harm only comes from tissue heating, do not reflect modern scientific findings.

Key experts stress that the global increase in wireless use makes even small health risks significant for public health and that stronger regulatory action is urgently needed. They also recommend public precautions, such as using speakerphones or wired headsets and keeping devices away from the body — especially for children — but emphasize that personal precautions are not enough without updated, enforced safety standards.

ICBE-EMF, comprising international scientists and health experts, continues to advocate for protective policies and technological solutions to reduce RF radiation exposure from wireless devices.
