While Dr. Marlena Kruger was overseas to attend the World Education Congress, Mrs. Juliana Freeme, an occupational therapist with a MSc degree in Neurodevelopment, and a Director of the TechnoLife Wise Foundation, delivered a talk on behalf of Dr. Marlena Kruger at the fifth Raising Toddlers seminar on 29 June 2019. It was held at the Radisson Blue hotel in Sandton.

Her talk focused on how the negative impact of the use of technology and screens easily grow into Technology or Screen Addiction. After the important development milestones during toddler years were highlighted, it is crystal clear that all parents need to become much better informed and critical before they use any digital screens as their tech-babysitters for a short-term break, but with long-term negative outcomes.

There is no doubt that especially toddlers can become addicted in less than six months with many negative outcomes and long-term consequences, because they are missing critical development milestones with regards to their physical, social, emotional, cognitive and spiritual development. Many children are then misdiagnosed with e.g. ADHD or being on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. They may even get prescribed medication such as Ritalin or Concerta.

Important note:  Another talk will be done at the National Early Childhood Development Conference on 17 August 2019 at the Breakthru Life Church in Weltevreden Park.

There were also four educational children books and a DVD on Technology Addiction on sale. However, if you have missed this golden opportunity to buy during the tea break these products, don’t despair! They are available on the website, www.mindunique.co.za or drop her an email info@mindunique.co.za to make an arrangement to get the books and/or DVD delivered at your doorstep.

If you experience specific challenges with your toddler that may be linked to a level of Technology or Screen Addiction, please don’t wait any longer. Contact me to make an appointment either via email: info@mindunique.co.za  or cell: 083 456 3505 or use http://www:10to8.com
